I'm not sure if it's tradition, since it's from Thailand, but it's relatively new in the Netherlands. Here's a picture.

When you buy it, it's totally flat and there's a special part of the balloon where you can write your wish on. Then you unfold it and there's a special piece of dunno what stuff that you gotta tie down to some metal wires on the bottom. Go outside, light up the special piece of dunno what stuff an wait for the balloon to fill with hot air until it's all filled up and ready to let go! It's really beautiful, you can see from the picture! :aww:
